Who We Are

We feel called to embody God’s holy community and hold a vision of a sacred future. For us, it means a table that is filled with women and men, children and older people, people of color and white people, gay men, lesbians, bi-sexual people, transgendered people, heterosexual people, and people with disabilities. Some of us think of Circle of Grace as exilic church. At our table, in our space, and in our shared life, we seek to be a safe haven.

We are still a progressive, feminist, Christian worshipping community. If that sounds like an interesting contradiction of terms, you wouldn’t believe the other things we call ourselves. Like radically inclusive, anti-racist, pro- all the hues and textures of humanity, eco-feminist and, yes, Christian.

Maybe we mean something different by that last category than you think. Maybe you should check us out. But don’t check your brain or your spirit at the door.

We have hammered out a covenant that best expresses our intent. We know that our covenant is a pretty tall order. But our covenant is our guide not our dogma. It is what we shoot for. We wrestle with the messy stuff of life and call one another to journey with integrity. We struggle and limp and strut and drag our feet. We sing and cry and laugh and talk and talk and talk.

If you’re looking for a place that has all the answers, we're not what you’re looking for, but if you’re looking for somewhere to refine your questions, Circle of Grace may be the place for you.
